The reader of the Mawṣil maqām, Sayyid Ismāʿīl al-Faḥḥām, performed verses from the dīwān of Ibn al-Fāriḍ. The poet addresses his beloved in a state of rapture and sacrifice, titled "Laka fī al-ḥayyi hālikun bika ḥayyun. fī sabīl al-hawá istaladhdha al-halākā." We consider these verses to be Sufi poetry.
